I had been enjoying Michael Talbot's The Holographic Universe, and embracing all that it implies about the nature of reality, until--boom--he loses a heap o' credibility by citing the works of Carlos Castaneda and the miraculous manifestations of Satya Sai Baba.

Both of these fellers have been outed as hucksters. Even back in the early 1990s when Talbot wrote his book, the jury was out about the veracity of the Don Juan and Sai Baba legends, but he gives no indication of this, just unquestioningly uses their stories to back up his theories.

Oh well. At least the stuff about holographic brains still makes sense.

In KitH news, I have finally made it through the entire first season plus bonus material disc. Ah. As I place the DVDs in the mailbox to be spirited away to the Netflix warehouse in Queens, I weep for the loss, I weep and wail for season two.
