Once again, very busy, little time to blog, but let me just tell you about a couple things I'm loving at the moment (there's a theme): The quietly beautiful lapsteel wistfulness of The Last Town Chorus The quietly powerful movie Shattered Glass, which depicts the comaraderie, pressure, dignity, and conflicting loyalties of the workplace better than any film in recent memory. (The DVD extra is a 60 Minutes interview with the real subject of the semi-fictionalized story.) It handles its subject matter and characters with compassion and respect, and trusts that the audience doesn't need anything more than character development to be fascinated. The quietly sparkling Sputnik Sweetheart, which is a wonderful post-Moby novel to sink into, and my first exposure to Murakami.
