Once again, very busy, little time to blog, but let me just tell you about a couple things I'm loving at the moment (there's a theme):

  • The quietly beautiful lapsteel wistfulness of The Last Town Chorus
  • The quietly powerful movie Shattered Glass, which depicts the comaraderie, pressure, dignity, and conflicting loyalties of the workplace better than any film in recent memory. (The DVD extra is a 60 Minutes interview with the real subject of the semi-fictionalized story.) It handles its subject matter and characters with compassion and respect, and trusts that the audience doesn't need anything more than character development to be fascinated.
  • The quietly sparkling Sputnik Sweetheart, which is a wonderful post-Moby novel to sink into, and my first exposure to Murakami.
