My Neighbor Totoro is still my fave. The Fox pan-and-scan DVD is the one that's out right now, though a two-disc deluxe widescreen reissue is in the works. Even in its current subpar video release, it's still the one I think you oughtta start with.

Totoro is cute, but I'm more of a Nausicaa guy.

But my favorite anime remains Neon Genesis Evangelion, weird and indecipherable as it is. Just don't drink while watching the final two episodes.

You can't go wrong with any Miyazaki. That said, I wouldn't rate Totoro higher than fourth of the five I've seen. I would recommend Spirited Away for weird and Kiki's Delivery Service for sweet.

Whoa! Nothing to say about Japanimation - but I like this funky metallic earthtone background. Either that, or someone put something exceedingly strange into my dinner this evening.

I thought I'd spice up everyone's lives by changing my comments page...but I notice that nothing I do seems to fix the "back to the entry" link--I checked and it seems to be a universal problem at Diaryland.

Oh, and thanks for all the anime recommendations! I've got my viewing cut out for me for the next year or so!

Not here. Totoro has Catbus, and Catbus trumps all!

I hum "Hey 19" several times a week when the local NPR station announces that it's 8:19. I wish someone would cauterize the part of my brain that knows this song, I really do.
