I'm proud to say that I first saw TBL immediately after its theatrical release and declared it the best movie of the year. When I found out that it had become a big cult item, I felt very prescient.

I remembered that little monologue from TBL one day, well after having seen the movie, which at the time, I liked, but didn't totally love. There was something about the dude abiding, that felt like the closest thing to religion that my secular mind could take in, the constancy, and even a sort of heroism more keen for being embodied in such an average "dude"... later I saw the movie again, and thought that every line, every look, every camera angle was hilarious (I find that I often enjoy comedies more the second time around).
