Glad you had a good time! A drink named after the Mattina's! Wow! I heard it'll be in the book next year. Also, which of the four shows would you go to?

October 1!!!

Man, that Mattini sounds like a hangover recipe!

BP, the evidence suggests you are correct. That's why I advise youngsters to use vodka as their alcohol base, and not JD. A sugarless popsicle is also best.

I think you need to start training now to be able to swim back and forth between the two venues. Or borrow the Batboat.

Hmmm, I wonder if you've gotten to THE fourth season episode yet ("That's My Dog") - the one that really tends to polarize the SFU fans...

I did! I thought it was amazing, actually. You?

About that drink, Paula - fabulous name for such a, hmm, nontraditional recipe. And you should always advise youngsters to drink alcohol that tastes like alcuhol (rather than, say, alcohol that tastes like popsicles). It's just responsible. But you know I'm the kind of snobbish alcohol bore who boycotts frivolity. Though I do, of course, make exceptions for parasols and legthy skewers of fruit in those drinks associated with Trader Vic.

I liked it, Paula. But I know plenty of people who didn't. I thought it shook things up, which was something that was needed at that point in the show's run.

Janet: I am all about distracting the drinker from the taste of alcohol, by any means necessary: colors, skewers, dry ice, a light show.

Flasshe: I checked out the TWOP boards on the topic of "That's My Dog," and it seems people unanimously hated that ep. But like you said--it shook things up. It was so remarkably different from any other episode, and created a turning point. And Michael C. Hall is such a swell actor. I know Nate is the central character of the show, but the David character, to me, is the real moral center.

Rose, when she could drink (geez, make her sound like a recovering drunk: no it's food sensitivities...), also disliked the merest hint of alcohol taste. I think you should just *inject* the alcohol while drinking the rest of the drink: far more efficient. And on drinks: Rose has become a bit of Virgin Mary connoisseur (the drink, not the religious figure) - and let me tell you, there are some weird ones made hereabouts. First off: although V/B Marys are often excuses to drown a salad in spiked spicy tomato juice (didn't Robyn Hitchcock write about that?), that's no reason for *meat* to show up in them. Pepperoni in a Bloody Mary? Shrimp? Freakin' *sausage*? Present to me one break, man!

Actually the shrimp thing sounds kind of good to me...
