Well, technically, his beard is not Amish, as he has a mustache (though I guess, if one wanted to split hairs - ha! - you could say his beard is Amish but his mustache is not).

The Ask the Amish Faq (http://www.800padutch.com/atafaq.shtml#beard) states in response to the question: "Why do Amish men have beards but no mustaches?" - ""There are quite a few scripture that mention beards in the Bible. An example would be Psalm 133:1,2. An Amishman does not shave his beard after he becomes married; a long beard is the mark of an adult Amishman. Mustaches, on the other hand, have a long history of being associated with the military, and therefore are forbidden among the Amish people." Anyhoo, I hate the beard but no mustache look, and am glad Mr. Party forsook that look before we met.
