Lloyd from My Pocket Zoo is the Hendrix of the ukulele!

Thanks Paula! What a great party. Right now the only way to purchase a copy of the new Liza & the WonderWheels record "Meet the Animal" is directly from a member of the band! The new CD Baby page hasnt been processed yet. I marked everything as Jan. 2006 so it would be fresh for the New Year, but hey, Paula that makes your copy all the more special!

God, Paula, those movie descriptions are the funniest I've ever seen in my whole life (and I've seen a few strange ones, as you know). I'd like to meet the people who thought up those two ideas, since neither one would ever have occurred to me in a million years. Hey, when I saw Liza's remark about "the new CD Baby" I thought for a split-second that she'd done a companion soundtrack until I realized she was talking about the online store.

The real question: does the ukelele *need* a Hendrix, let alone two? Congrats on the new CD, Liza!

God, as a pregnant person, I really want to see that Baby movie. Maybe I'll rent it with "It's Alive" which I've always wanted to see.

Jake Shimabukuro recently played a sold-out show in San Francisco. I found it odd when I saw a newspaper ad for a ukelele performer with a big "SOLD OUT!" banner, but obviously a lot of folks love the uke music.

My dad showed me this Shimabukuro video when I was home for Thanksgiving: It's awe-inspiring, but not at all Hendrix-y. (Sorry about the otherwise-unfortunate website.)

Tim, that video is pretty cool.

Thanks Joe! You wrote an interesting post over at your 'blog about cover songs. We recorded a cover song on this record: Machine Gun Smith by Kimberley Rew / Katrina and the Waves. Our reasoning was that lyrically the song is just as pertinent as it was in the 80's and that's a sad statement about current world politics. Also, it rocks and is very fun to play.

Hmmm, it may be my duty to Netflix "The Baby."

Pandora is awesome (although it's interesting to note that I'm not necessarily drawn to a band/artist that has the same underlying qualities of one that I do enjoy). Does this mean the end of the DJ (or at least those that talk too much)??

Paula - 2005-12-13 11:18:15
Eric: It certainly is your duty! avast thar!

Anne: It's defintely not perfect--I tried a Robyn Hitchcock playlist, and all the other artists were boring folkies w/no sense of humor. But if you keep hitting "I don't like this song" it will learn, eventually.
