Do you find yourself telling people, "You've got to trust me!"? If so, you've got it bad.

Do you find yourself telling people, "You've got to trust me!"?

Hourly. Also, that pulsing clock sound before commercial breaks makes me involuntarily sing along: "Doo-ga-ga! Doo-ga-ga!"

I've never watched 24, but "Doo-ga-ga" sounds like the noise Archie's jalopy might make. Though that's not very suspenseful, so I'm guessing, no.

No, it's not quite that noise, but suddenly I am envisioning the Riverdale gang as CTU agents.

"Mr. Weatherbee, who do you work for??!"

As I think I mentioned on Rog's blog, our microwave beeps in the exact pitch of those little 24 beeps...so it's a sort of subliminal promo, every time I use the microwave! Clever bastards...

I think you should reconsider covering Jorge Ben, as it just occurred to me that you are actually Brazilian (at least a little).

Also check out this, which is a collection of Brazilian funk from the 70s and although Jorge Ben isn't on there himself I think there's quite a few JB covers by other people.

Also, for Brazilian music of different type, check out this album, which is a collection of post punk No Wave groups from Sao Paolo in the early 80s. Kind of like Os Mutantes mixed with Jorge Ben and XTC. this collection is supposed to be good too, but I haven't heard it yet.

Also, on his next album, Jorge Ben has a song called Africa Brasil, which is totally different sounding but has the same lyrics as Zumbi.

Dave: thanks for the info--and that's pretty wild about his writing a new song with the same lyrics. Have you heard Soulfly?

Wombat: you're close, I am actually Godzilian.

The main way in which 24 has influenced my every day activities is that now I need only the slighest bit of provocation to bring out my torture implements. "What?? You were supposed to have that report on my desk 15 minutes ago! Tell me where that report is or I will strap you to that chair and attach electrodes to your nostrils!"

Paula - 2005-12-28 23:16:16
Or, more succintly, "Shall we call in...Johnson??"
-------------------------------
2fs - 2005-12-29 00:38:04
I wish that were a euphemism, but it's not.
-------------------------------
Paula - 2005-12-29 13:58:02
After Johnson euphemizes you, you won't be a-wishin' that!

I have no idea what that means.
