Not only that, but if people were trying to work out in rhythm they'd start dropping like flies by the time they got to the "Everything, Everything, Everything!" part.

It will never not drive me nuts that "Blitzkrieg Bop" is the most well-known Ramones song.

The most well-known Ramones song among small children in my life is "I Wanna Be Sedated".

I'm delighted to hear it's not "Beat on the Brat", or "The KKK Took my Baby Away".

Janet: I would have thought "I Wanna Be Sedated" was yours and Andy's fave Ramones track, on accounta the small kiddren...

The Sippy Cups (a SF children's band featuring former members of the Loud Family among others) cover the song as "I Wanna Be Elated", so little kids won't start singing about being sedated.

Oops! It's The Sippy Cups, or maybe The Sippy Cups. One of those oughta work on this here comments board; I can't keep the html requirements straight. But my kids got used to the original lyrics before said excellent cover, so it's too late anyway. They sing about being sedated. It's sort of funny, though, y'know, in an ironical way.

Speaking of Sippy Cups and Kids music, one of my childrens all time favorite songs was "the bottle let me down" by merle haggard. We used to put it on when the only thing that would stop them crying was a nice sippy cup.

There's something to be said for redoing old drinking songs as kids' (milk/juice/etc.)-drinking songs. I'm not sure what that something is, but it is something.

Kids should be sedated and not heard. Except for Janet's kids of course - they're okay.

There's a kids' compilation from Bloodshot Records called "The Bottle Let Me Down - Songs for Bumpy Wagon Rides" with Kelly Hogan, Robbie Fulks, Waco Brothers, Handsome Family etc. doing children's classics and originals.

I suppose it's perfectly fair that a post involving the Ramones devolved into a discussion about children's music, but why doesn't this same thing happen every time somebody brings up the Beatles?

Now you're just trolling, Jens ;) But still: "Yellow Submarine," "All Together Now," maybe "Hey Bulldog"...curiously, all from the Yellow Submarine album.

Thanks for the heads up on the Bloodshot Records compilation. My kids are to old for it now, but it sounds like a good present for others.
