It really bothers me that Sufjan gets so much press and Tris is still relatively obscure. I have never lived in NJ or even spent much time there, and I think Bottles... is one of the great albums of the 90s.

Gotta agree: not to diss Sufjan (whose stuff I like, and whose shtick I actually find charming rather than, as some state natives see it, insulting), but definitely more respect needs to be paid Tris McCall, whose music, outlook, and lyrical vision are every bit as fully realized as anyone else out there.

thanks, and thanks for rocking with me, paula! remember, i'm a very private person. for every thing i do to draw attention to myself, i tend to do five which are the promotional equivalent of diving under a rock. still, i have a new record coming out, which means i have to crank the ole publicity machine back into overdrive, or my version of overdrive, anyway. incidentally, the upcoming record is all about brooklyn, and it *is* going to piss people off.

Just as long as you don't dis Empire Dismantling or the Verrazano Bridge, I promise I won't be pissed off.

Oh, and just for the record, I was being slightly facetious in comparing Sufjan and Tris--I love Sufjan, too.

Is the rock propped up by a couple of smaller rocks or something? Or is there a hole dug beneath the rock? I'm just asking, since, you know, otherwise diving under a rock is kinda risky and shit. Unless it's one of those secret-code metaphor things.
