I did, BP. I liked it.

If she quacks like a duck, and floats like a duck, maybe she IS a good actress.... (I mean, c'mon, you thought Steryl Meep was a good actress.)

Bob: JA's performance in Friends with Money is understated and subdued because her characer is meant to be a depressed pothead. It works, and she was most likely given good direction. It's an ensemble film and she's not required to carry the movie, which also helps.

I've seen her in several other films where her performance was just "meh," so I think I've done the scientific research.

But to imply that Meryl Streep is not a good actress is ludicrous.

I was just teasing you for being overly-backhandedy complimentary towards J.A., as if you would lose your critic's license... but I do have to say that she might could have pulled off "Dingo et my baby!" without becoming an international laughing stock. (My MS "research" consists of once having made an Aussie surf lass who was passing through a local surf lineup cackle, by asking if Americans ask her to say that.)

Whoops, backhandedy instead of backhandedly is not [/is less of?] a word. Hope I'm not an international laughing-stock now. But even Meryl seems to be able to laugh at herself nowadays. I don't know if the movie with her as what turned out to be her daughter's boyfriend's therapist was good or not, but it was a potentially good premise, and good self-casting, it seemed.

Lineup is not a word either;; that should be line-up... as in out in the water at a surf break. (FWIW) (WIM)
