I agree on Wallace and Gromit and on Jorge Ben Jor. As we have dicussed before, the last movie was my fav of the year. Especially when compared to such crap as "beyond the hedge" and other dreamwork derivative kid junk.

I'll defend "Over the Hedge" because I thought it had a few real chuckles. Cars wasn't half bad either, but Wallace and Gromit really does always come out on top, at least with the animation of late.

Okay, you got me--I thought Granite Kitchen Countertops was a link to a band's website. It should be a band name. But everybody missed the boat on Garden State Brickface too.

I didn't hate it, but I wasn't blown away. I saw it with a 7-year-old, and when I asked him, "What was your favorite part?" he replied, tellingly, "Well, my favorite explosion was when..."

i>Garden State Brickface

Ah, my soul brother, that has been on my list of potential band names since high school, with the variant: "Garden State Blackface and Stucco."

With so many creative new movies available for children (aardmore studios, Hayao Miyazaki, and Pixar) I really dont have patience for the knockoff crap with all the sly pop culture references and painful soundtracks. Over the hedge at least had some good voices to work with. At this point I miss the hand drawn look; other than the pixar movies, I find the computer animation has a harsh ugly edge. In particular when it comes to animated children. Polar express was downright creepy.

I think it's cruel to even contemplate making your dogs knit. I'd be worried about them putting their eyes out or something. Especially the Golden Retrievers.

I like Garden State Blackface and Stucco--sounds like Dick Tracy bad guys.

Word...if we could do away with that stuff forever, I'd be happy.

Gromit knits voluntarily, though. But I would characterize him as "long-suffering." I find it so endearing when, after all his various human-like endeavors, Gromit walks on all fours...

Thanks for the link. Granite Kitchen Countertops would make a great band name. I just saw Curse of The Werebunny on DVD and it was hilarious. I want a dog that can take care of me like that instead of vice versa.

I'm looking forward to the animated kid's flic A Scanner Darkly this summer.
