My favorite futbol metaphor is the "red card" issued for egregious fashion violations such as men in speedos or lycra shorts.

I watched the Ghana vs Czech match with 4 guys from Ghana who work in the garage across from my apartment. Ghana, a huge underdog, won. Four grown men cried, and then to top it of hugged me. In the words of homer simpson "If ghana doesnt win I dont know what I will do"

Chris--That was a beautiful match, wasn't it? Could be the best so far. Credit though to the Czech goalkeeper Petr Cech, star of Chelsea. He has nearly superhuman talent and with anyone else the whipping would have been much worse.

Yes it was. World cup is my fav sporting event, even more so here in NY since you can watch most game with locals. I just love that Cech plays for Czech. I figure US needs JOE US as goalkeeper. My fav game so far was Ivory coast vs Argy....

I just read my own link and realized that rushed behind is a fairly useful metaphor, too.

My favorite match in terms of entertainment value was the Args/Serb game on Friday--I walked past a bar on W. Bway on my way to work (9:00-ish AM) and witnessed many ebullient Argentinians in full array singing their national anthem. It was quite touching.

Ebullient Argentinians = Great band name. National Anthem = Great first album title for the EA.
