There were cop shows on 7 nights a week for at least 2 hours when I was a kid. Loved Columbo best.

Oh, and uh... one more thing... Did anybody ever watch Barnaby Jones and not think instantly of Jed Clampett?

I have fond childhood memories of seeing Columbo as one of the NBC Mystery Movie series. All of them were must watch fare at our house, but my favorites were Hec Ramsey, McCloud, and Columbo.

I don't remember Hec Ramsey at all, but I believe MacMillan & Wife was one of the rotating mystery movies in that line-up, too, and I loooooved that show.

Hec Ramsey only ran one or two years. It starred Richard Boone as a Old West sheriff who used forensic science to solve crimes. It got good ratings apparently, but Richard Boone apparently backed out due to some sort of contract dispute.

McMillan & Wife was pretty good, I liked Rock Hudson, Nancy Walker and John Schuck in it, but even as a pre-teenager I found Susan St. James somewhat annoying.

Too bad we can't have the CSI folks in a time travel episode where they visit Quincy and Hec Ramsey!!!

Re: Peter Falk--My favorite Falk role is in The In-Laws with Alan Arkin. They've released a re-make but since the original is so good, I probably won't see it.

Serpentine! Serpentine!

Sorry about the unclosed tag in my last (and now deleted) comment. I kind of hate the fact that Diaryland doesn't let you preview or delete your own comments.

Watching Barnaby Jones without thinking of Jed Clampett was like trying to watch In the Heat of the Night without screeching, "Aaaarrrchieee!" Hey Paula, I posted some more Dancing Hoods on my blog, incl. "Pleasure".
