All my early picks (mostly unrealistic underdogs) are out. Now going for France just because it would be nice to see Zinedine Zidane exit international competition with one more big victory. It's humbling to watch his sportsmanship and his talent is unequaled.

Zinedine Zidane

And his name sounds either like a David Bowie alter ego, or something manufactured by Novartis.

His family nickname is Zizou, if that helps.

Okay, confession time: In the choice between Italy and France, it's come down to what country produces the better cheese, and lately I've been leading towards the French.

Isn't rooting for France 'un-American'? I gotta root for "my people". Go Italy!!!

Andy, you come from "people"?

France = Les Bleus New York is a Bleu State, and I eat Bleu Cheese. And if you read the bios of a lot of Les Bleus, they are the most compelling from a human interest standpoint--and I am a bleeding heart Bleu Stater. And Bastille Day is next week!
