The main symptom of heat-goofiness for me is that my body feels as if someone has dumped several gallons of glue over my entire body and then turned four or five industrial-strength hair dryers on me. Thank god for A/C: I used to be so completely utterly miserable during heatwaves like this one, it wasn't funny.

Seems to me a lot of the new punk is about bloated excess, or excess of some sort. Lots of rules though... like you have to be excessive. Excessively loud, excessively snotty, excessive in life style. It's somewhat fascist. Half the original punk bands wouldn't even be considered punk if they released the same records today. Jesus, I sound like an old man... Anyway, I'm looking forward to new Heartless Bastards. I soooo love Stairs and Elevators.

I still wont forgive my sometimes friend Jon (author of the inflammatory and filthy blog called underneathica) for having chosen to see Hold Steady (a band that attracts 40yr olds who have dedicated there life to irony, self-obsession, and 70s music at the expense of interpersonal skills) rather than Heartless Bastards (who played at the old school Mercury lounge, miles away from them hipsters of Williamsburg). Perhaps Jon will buy me this new album to make amends. But that would be selfless.

I think the way to make amends is for Jonderneathica to come back up here and we all go see the HBs together. Hopefully, they're not popular enough that they'd have to play at someplace big and yucky.
