I want to love Ned Lamont, specifically because he seems to be so anti-war... this war anyway. Rich guys with no political background running for office give me hives. If he's running on an anti-war platform just to get in and influence tax laws or something on this side, I will personally kick him in the seat of his pants. BUT BUT BUT, we lose a parrott for the Democratic Party, gain a parrott for the suspicious rich... it hardly matters, BECAUSE, Hatebeak is proof that we share this planet with very special people.

He may not *personally* have a political background (by which you mean, I assume, having held elective office), but his family has a long history of political service. I suppose if we're going to go around electing people who aren't politicians or who haven't any real or relevant experience (Reagan, Schwarzenegger, W...), at least it can be someone with a decent point of view. Lamont's a long-time donor to the Democrats - so I don't think he's just a single-issue guy. But back to more important things: Hatebeak. Can you tell the difference between the parrot and yr typical metal Cookie-Monster singer? Cuz I can't.

I'm ready to like Ned. Just don't know enough yet. I was ready to see Joe go though. And my fear of escalating class war is moot anyway because the "War on Terror" has furthered that also. In the meantime I want to see Folkbeak, Alternabeak, Popbeak, Lovebeak (the retro psych avian vanguard), Malibeak, Jambeak etc... and then Beak Radio... all parrots all the time.

Ned Lamont is a rich white guy, no doubt. But it seems only rich guys have the money to run in big races like this. Also, he did hold elective office, but it was like a county executive or something. What he also does is volunteer teach public high school kids in Bridgeport. There was a great commercial he ran where his students all talked glowingly about him. I think the more you learn about him, the more you'll like him.

That's encouraging news, Eli. I'm feeling a bit better about it today focussing on the grassroots nature of Ned's rise to victory thus far. And I think the victory represents a positive shakeup, despite the negative spin from both Joe's folks and the GOP. Thank you.
