I too have recommended "Little Miss Sunshine" to everyone willing to listen. You're right, like "The 40-Year Old Virgin", it seems, at first glance, as the kind of tiresome Hollywood comedy to be avoided at all costs -- but it's anything but. Just go see it people.

Is The Larch named for the Monty Python bit? "And now for something completely different... The Larch... The Larch."

Yep. Ian, the lead Larchie, is British, so he pronounces it just right.

That's neat! And The Larch is a better band name than A Scotsman On A Horse.

Have you been to, or played, Crash Mansion? It's a nice place with a great sound system (both house & stage) and the bathrooms are glorious!

I've been to, but not played at, CM. I like the basic structure of it, but there is also something weirdly non-New Yorkish about it that bugs me.

LLL is a bit more shabby/cozy, which I like.

Are you in Texas yet??

Er, that shoulda read "LRL" for Living Room Lounge.

>> Are you in Texas yet?? Nope. That didn't work out. Spent a year looking for work, but couldn't find anything. So, I'm still in Parsippany.

Parsippany is very much like Texas, but not as hot.

Blue Moon is a pretty good beer...but I've given up drinking it since I discovered it's brewed by Coors, who are evil bastards who support zillions of far-right organizations.

Paula - 2006-08-22 17:48:06
I was a little let down by that, too.

Far right organizations.... you mean like... Republicans? Re: Beer--I've been watching a lot of beer drinkers lately and there is little more annoying than seeing people peruse a beer selection like an expensive wine list. Then the bartender may give them a little taste in a glass and they swirl it around and swish it in their mouths. Okay okay... I probably have too many hang-ups but it annoys me.

Well, these days the Republicans are a "far-right organization" - but (w/o sitting here and trying to dig up a list) I'm referring to anti-gay organizations, anti-environmental organizations, the corporation itself flouting labor laws, etc. Not where I want my dollars going - not that I want them going to the Republican party either. Coors beer itself is, of course, bear urine by another name. Correction: watered-down bear urine. I'm not sure why, if a beer list is extensive, people actually looking it over annoys you. The tasting thing (except in brewpubs where that's the whole point: drinking lots of tiny beers), well, just take a chance and order - it's only a few bucks. It's not like wine, where you might drop big large on a bottle...

I was just funnin' really... The Coors family are Nazis for sure. It makes it an easier boycott that their beer is so dreadful.
