Capsaicin is the subject of a slew of studies in the last couple years and it appears to cure and heal an awful lot, from prostate cancer, stomach and intestinal tract cancer, gum disease--and I read something recently about its use as an anesthetic. With increasing evidence that cancers (or at least many of them) are actually viruses, it's great to see that the antibiotic properties of very common naturally occurring substances are being studied. Of course there is no substitute for healthy living as a preventative, we still need to work on detoxifying the world around us... but this is at least progress--and of course a regular dose of vindaloo is totally preferable to radiation. Mmmm vindaloo!

I made it to this advanced age only hearing LiaB for the first time. I remember reading a review a while back that was positive but didn't really describe them. Incidentally, I woke up this morning with Robyn Hitchcock's "My Favorite Buildings" on the tip of my tongue--dream soundtrack? The first RH I ever heard was Man With The Lightbulb Head, and the lyrics sent me into hysterics. And I was listening to a couple LiaB tracks yesterday with the same result. Not that I'd compare the two, but clever is clever.

I could swear that I first saw Life in a Blender at the Pyramid Club in '87 or '88 - I was visiting from Boston at one of those CMJ things and I think Chris Butler recommended them. Is that possible?

Yes--they have been around since the mid-80s, I believe.

One of LIAB's CDs came my way back when I was a-reviewin' CDs: can't say I remember it, or that it impressed me much. (I never actually wrote up a review.)
