I voted for Hugo Chavez, there are really no elections here in NY that are at risk of going a bad way. I agree on Obama. I think this is one case where the hype matches reality. I remember way back in early 90s watching Bill Clinton at the Democratic primary Debates. The field was crowded, including such dead weights as Jerry Brown. Bill was so much better than the rest, saying exactly the right thing at the right time, clearly head and shoulders above the rest. Obama has that .

I fucked up and didn't register in time. Let the chastisement begin...

While Obama is clearly leagues ahead of nearly every other politician in smarts and charisma, and while he does seem to be a rare, thoughtful politician, he ain't perfect: he endorsed Lieberman, and voted to confirm Rice (as Gary Younge points out in last week's _Nation_). I mean, I don't expect to find myself agreeing with any politician 100% of the time...but I also think Obamamania is in danger of projecting a phantasmic Obama that overshadows the real, more flawed one - rather the reverse of the demon-liberal Hillary that right-wingers imagine instead of the rather centrist Hillary we find in the reality-based world...

Oh - and it looks like Pennsylvania won't have Santorum to clean up after anymore.

I just couldn't bring myself to pull a lever for Hillary Clinton. Not that her seat was threatened which made it an easier choice, admittedly, but the last straw was endorsing the expedited shipment of clusterbombs to Israel AFTER it was established they were being used on civilians in Lebanon. She's as bereft of any real values as any Republican--an utter sham and a charlatan.

Other than those thoughts my election day was great! I'd be lying if I said that going into that booth doesn't give me a charge every single time.

Amatt---felt like my thumb!!! Har har. Overall, politically speaking, I really miss Grandpa Al Lewis. It was pretty weird voting for Malachy McCourt yesterday though, another character. I was asked what I would do if he actually won yesterday--I could only think I would do what I intend to do with anybody who won--make sure they work their asses off.

I like his slogan: "You don't have to be Irish to vote for me."

Damn straight.
