Melody lanes in sunset park? That has to be the dirtiest bowling alley in the North East.

I love Melody Lanes!!! But you know about me and bowling shoes. With Melody, it's all about the beer, the music. Total immersion in Brooklyn culture.

I have had to many kids bday parties there to love it.

...the low admission and rental prices make bowling there more than worthwhile.

Admission? Is that like a cover charge or something? (Can you tell I haven't been to a bowling alley in quite some time?)

It's dirty, but loveable. Like all of you.

And Tom G., when they say admission, they probably just mean the lane and shoe rental. We bowled 2 games, and it was $15/each. It's a little more than you'd pay for a movie, but it's better exercise.

I have found bowling to be like that, a lightning rod for grace, an open conduit for beginner's luck, or beginner's mind, my highest scores have mostly been the first time, or the first time in a long while. Which then I try to improve with the application of practice, and an attempt to understand zen.

I was looking at the FYC site (not Fine Young Cannibals) and couldn't help noticing there are a lot of goyim home for Purim! That is of course appropo of nothing. Is there any bowling in the film?

I made my first trip to ML a few months back. Started out in respectability, drifted slowly into abjection. Was it a metaphor? Of course! My arm hurt for days afterwards. My graceless aging is going right on schedule. Afterward a visit to the glorious Bar BQ seemed appropriate (and yes, I do know the owner).
