I'm going to have to pick up the Bobby Bare Jr.--meant to when he first appeared on IHoP. A few songs from his first 2 albums have been in regular rotation up here in the Fortress of Solitude (screw you, Jonathan Lethem it was mine first!)since they came out. Reconsidering this Heartless Bastards against Stairs & Elevators. You're right, this one offers a lot more. S&E has a certain appealing swagger, but this is the better of the two. Either way, what an incredibly voice--it's kind of different, but I can't stop listening to her. Dream double bill--Heartless Bastards and Thalia Zedek.

Great list, lots of power pop! I will have to give the HB's another listen. Dream double bill: Thalia Zadek and Carla Bozulich.

With all you bloggers out there, end of year list are swarming like locust. I am glad that you like the heartless bastards as much as I do. Nice to know not all my friends from college have gotten warped and distorted.

I'm warped, but I'm not distorted.

Jon, you are like that Electric Company character who only liked things whose names contained a particular letter. In this case, "z."

I really miss the Electric Company. Easy Reader that's my name, uh uh uh.

I try to keep up, I do, I read this blog almost everyday, but come the end of year list, and I'm always overwhelmed(!) so much stuff I haven't even heard of, or just heard of, I mostly listen to stuff over and over...
dazed but not confused...
I only saw the Electric Co. once, I was 13 years old, cutting school, and tripping on LSD, it kinda freaked me out...

Electric Co. was made by people on acid, I'm fairly certain. New Zoo Review and Star Blazers were good for afterschool bong-a-thons. Didn't Carla Bozulich do a solo album this year? I haven't heard it.

You evil people are ruining my childhood. I watched Electric Co. and New Zoo Review and Sesame Street as a toddler and I wasn't on any drugs at the time. I don't think Froot Loops count, anyway, even if they were psychedelic colored.

iwombat - 2006-12-22 12:33:26
I don't know, Froot Loops might count, what the heck is "Froot" and what's more psychedelic than "Loops" and didja ever look at the ingredients? but I digress...

Bina - 2006-12-22 12:49:38
Froot is the American version of fruit. Damn Americans. You always have to be different from the rest of the world, doncha?

"666 friends on MySpace." Eeh Gads! Satan's Social Club...

Well, luckily it didn't last long--now I gots 670. Whew!
