Paula I have done that run, makes you realize them dutch knew what they were doing (and Robert moses was evil). Speaking of running and music, have you tried the 46 minute running song composed by LCD soundsystem?

I ran through a northern Virginia suburb today. Ordinarily I run through a nice central Ohio neighborhood with ravines and all. But no ocean. No ocean. Well, for one week (maybe 3 runs) a year. I'm awful envious and wistful. Thanks for posting about today's run, and please recreate it frequently on behalf of those of us who can't!

They've been giving out those oyster crackers with soup at my lunch place lately, I don't actually think they taste like much, but it's a lot of fun to fish for them while I'm eating my soup (one cracker per spoonful).

I love how so many places in Brooklyn are named by their elevation: Bay Ridge, Greenwood Heights, Park Slope, Cobble Hill, Flatlands Ave, Mill Basin. I didn't know about the typhoid islands.

I love the Saltine -- it has the perfect salt / starch / fat ratio

Saltines are great, but never underestimate the Triscuit or the Cheese Nip. And not to be a buzzkill but am I the only person that's already in mourning for trans-fat?

Janet: Ravines are nothin' to sneeze at. I remember a nice run I took in your very neighborhood in C-bus that involved--am I dreaming this?--a babbling brook, a grove of osage oranges, and one of those workout station trails. That was fun.

Next time you're here we'll go running and I'll show you where I think you were - the workout stations are gone, but the osage oranges happily survive. And a small wetlands preserve, where we even get a couple lost seagulls from time to time (still no ocean, though). :-)
