Chris--that's very very funny... Paula--for a while I had a serious addiction to Literati, on Yahoo Games, which is like Scrabble. You could set up to play with strangers and/or friends with unlimited IM capacity whilst the game was running. I haven't tried their backgammon, but I think Yahoo does that also. I haven't read anything about Goethe having an affinity for board games but I'd bet he was pretty good.
