Baby Party - 2007-03-09 21:20:53
A haiku/riddle. Which question am I answering, and what is the answer? The little girls scream
Jubilee I think I love
You rock me, baby!

What was your first live concert? I think it was Aerosmith, in the 8th grade. Mine, not theirs. What's your best physical feature? You're just asking for it, aren't you. Uh, I dunno - that's the sort of thing other people think of, isn't it? Who taught you table manners (assuming you have some)? My parents, presumably. Not as if I remember. Unless you're all Emily Post on us - I have no idea concerning the proper placement of the melon baller, except "gouging out the eyes of that Hummer driver yappin' full-volume on the cell-phone about his prostrate" probably isn't correct. Who do you like better, Pete Shelley or Steve Diggle, and why? Steve Diggle's definitely got the better name...although I can't remember now what Shelley's real name is. I know Howard Devoto is Howard Trafford though - what do I win? When do you feel most powerful? When I realize how fortunate I've been, and I'm able to be engaging my skill usefully. You know, like dissing the artwork in "Gil Thorp." Write me a short poem with the word "jubilee" in it. Trees forgive the winter/in green jubilee.

I'm not sure who taught me this, but I can't start eating until everyone is served. Certainly not a courtesy I picked up from my family of origin. We had a locally-owned small supermarket a block north of the library in the very-old suburb where I work. It closed last fall after decades and decades in operation, and the lot will soon house a CVS. Local residents now have to drive (no good bikeways) a couple miles south to the Giant Eagle or north to the Kroger. There are many seniors living in small apartments in the immediate vicinity and a lot of them don't drive anymore. The name of the grocery was Jubilee Foods. My best physical feature is my body. My first live concert was Don McLean. I can't remember the answers to the rest of your questions. Have a good glob break!

I learned my table manners by watching feral cats,
I am learning my table manners in a series of embarrassing corrections from all and sundry (mostly women)
Hot Tuna @ Town Hall 1969? maybe '70.

jubilee,
what would that be?
if you ask me, some kind of party.
what's the occasion?

First live concert: a jazz band brought over to Pakistan by the USIS in which Kevin Eubanks (now on the tonight show) was a guitarist. I was fourteen or so. My best physical feature: my lips. Who taught me table manners: my mom. When do I feel most powerful: When I'm in the midst of writing a chapter and it's going well and I can see everything that's going to happen for the next five pages. Jubilee poem: Golden Jubilee When you kissed me Under the neem tree

BP:

Which question am I answering, and what is the answer?

I think you are saying that David Cassidy taught you your table manners.

Hey, everybody--thanks! Really good stuff, 'specially the poetry.

What was your first live concert?

No idea. Probably Al Stewart or Bruce Springsteen. That was a looooong time ago. Why do most people have no problem remembering the answer to this question? Maybe you people are all too young and have too many brain cells left.

What's your best physical feature?

My hair.

Who taught you table manners (assuming you have some)?

My first dog.

Who do you like better, Pete Shelley or Steve Diggle, and why?

Pete Shelley - he writes better songs.

When do you feel most powerful?

When I'm behind the wheel of a car listening to good loud music.

Write me a short poem with the word "jubilee" in it.

Jubilee is not my favorite X-Man
She just shoots colored lights from her hand
Maybe I would be a bigger fan
If she played triangle in my favorite band
