The Pets may be the same band that closed the Anton Barbeau/Loud Family CD release party last year. OTOH, it's probably not a unique band name...

Power trio (I think), with an Asian bass player? I liked them.

Lordy, the Riff Randells are so cute it hurts. They're not the Donnas, who will always top my Creepy Old Guy Favorites List, but they sound good. I will definitely pick up The Nice Boys album, big fan of Exploding Hearts (whose only album was 30 some odd minutes of fun).

Sorry to be a little backwards, subject-wise, but what the hell WERE those critters yesterday? Don't seem to be either mustelids OR muskrats, cuz they have beaver tails, but are beavers svelte floaters?

They were part of a new Twee-Pop Duet from Canada called Les Otters and their first album, titled No Otter Fur Me, is released this week.

Paula - 2007-03-31 16:07:38
Yeah, supposedly they were otters.

Bob - 2007-03-31 23:31:17
That's not what our otters' tails look anything like. What source deemed them otters?

Bob - 2007-03-31 23:39:15
And are you trying to tell me that some zoo has living specimens of Castorocaudia Lutrisimilis, and that the ancient fossil found in China of a "beaver-tailed similar to otters" critter should have been no big deal?
-------------------------------
Bob - 2007-03-31 23:43:21
(And that it wasn't the evolutionary dead end it is thought to have been?)
-------------------------------
Bob - 2007-04-01 00:04:34
I mean, the only creature fitting that latin description NOT featuring a duckbill supposedly went extinct 125 million years ago, so it seems unlikely that a zoo would have any leftovers....

Bob - 2007-04-01 00:16:23
Hmm, and yet they look exactly like California sea otters... so I guess I meant the only 'beaver-tailed otter' critter Google saw fit to mention....

Your fault, Paula: I must have just been following your reasoning about the band The Pets.

I don't know who took the video, or whether these hand-holding monsters have been scientifically proven to be otters or not, I just saw the link on a mailing list I'm on, and it said, "Cute otter video."

Those are otters. Now watch while Stan joins them in the pool, floating on his back to remain inconspicuous...
