I have tried with all my might to dislike Jack Black (Allah only knows why I'd attempt such a thing) and have always fallen short. He IS a one trick pony, but there is something about that one trick--perhaps it's a familiarity--there always seems to be one Jack Black in every circle of friends. I pray I'm not the Jack Black of my odd somewhat concentric circles.

Paula, Jack Black not being able to do any wrong I'll probably never get, but I now understand exactly why you once mentioned in your blog that Angelina Jolie can do no wrong, in your eyes. It's cuz you're her mother's doppelganger... or at least you now look (in pitchers) like the only picture of seen of her mother, taken at about your age, with a teenaged Angelina. (I knew there had to be a reason you excused that baby snatchin', husband snatchin' non-prude....)

While I find Jack Black to be a talented and funny fellow, and the director of the film, Liam Lynch, occupies an almost holy status with me because he's the co=creator of this show, I have to say that for me, "Tenacious D: The PIck of Destiny" fell flat; there was way too much exposition regarding the duo's meeting, and once off on the plot proper, it lacked the inspired lunacy of the HBO shorts (produced by comedy God, Bob Odenkirk!) which initiated their career. That being said, dear readers, check it out for yourself and decide -- but don't say you haven't been warned...

well I enjoyed my little visit to the "best website ever" but I don't know if I really need "the movie".

Trust me, I have very little patience for really stupid movies that feel like padded skits. But, as I was saying to a friend yesterday, JB clearly loves classic rock, and is able to convey that love while completely making fun of every aspect of it. I am impressed with his musical skills, too. Get this: I even watched all the extras! I never do that.

As for Marcheline, I can't find any older pictures of her, but this recent photo certainly looks similar to how I may look in my 50s. Good call.

But I do just love Angelina cuz I think she's cool.

Ms. Carino may or may not resemble Ms. Jolie, but Grigorss could be Patton Oswalt's stunt double.
