What sparked the trip into Olivion? I'll tell you, I just had a totally swoony flashback to listening to "A Little More Love" as a drunk teenager in the back of a taxi. I loved that song. (From when she went "new wave"! Remember??)

I am writing bio's for work today and ONJ is one of them.

My most visceral memory of her music is being forced to jazzercize--an actual choreographed routine!--to one of the lesser-known album tracks from Physical, for gym class. Why yes, it was humiliating, in fact.

I haven't seen a potholder loom in forever either. What do kids do in art class these days?

amatt--you should see my sons' teachers! They're all stunning. My kid is in 9th grade and he just sits there dumbfounded all day. And he hasn't even discovered drugs yet...

My Olivia was 1974's If You Love Me Know Olivia. "I Honestly Love You" was a big song for the 11-year old Baby Party. By the time "Physical" came out, I'd moved on. Plus, that "body talk" stuff was too embarrassing for me that age.

Mr. Party's mom has five or six God's Eyes on a wall in her living room.

Paula--We never suffered Jazzercize in gym, but there was always a period of a few weeks of gym yearly when we had to do dance with the girls' gym class. Square dancing and all that... swing your partner, doe see doe... the whole deal. Maybe Jazzercize wouldn't have been so bad.

Baby Party--I can't even tell you how many of those I tried to make. One would imagine God being cock-eyed if they saw the result.
