Okay... well, the mantle was passed down from Elvis directly to me... but King Louie is pretty cool and definitely my type of noise, so he can borrow it for a bit.

Just for kicks I walked up there and followed the whole line. This was about 4:30. The line stretched from New Dock Street to Bridge Street. That's a half mile. Then I wondered if there's anyone alive I would wait in such a line for.

Answer: The Smiths.

The Smiths are dead. It's only Morrissey now.

Mr L, I take it you didn't hop on the line yourself?

Then I wondered if there's anyone alive I would wait in such a line for.

At this point, if Jesus himself came back and put on a free outdoor show, I'd opt for renting Godspell and ordering Thai food.

@Paula: I most certainly did not :) @Bina: Well, they're certainly moribund. But if Roger Waters can rejoin Pink Floyd for one show, then why not the Smiths? I'd wait on line for that, even if Mike Joyce stayed away.

Damn shame, Paula. You're going to miss one hell of a light show on this next tour!

Paula, whenever you want to rent Godspell and get Thai food, that's my idea of a good time. They showed it free in Central Park last summer and it was very fun. It's a weird and interesting movie, with Victor Garber as Jesus H. Murphy. At the time someone sent me this link, which I found amazing. You know, it's quite possible I even found this link here on your blog, and I'm just forgetting that: http://godspell.ca/index.htm

I can't remember linking to that page, but I do remember seeing that photo of the best members of SCTV plus Gilda Radner plus afro'd Victor Garber. "Pre-e-epare ye, the way of the Lord..."
