This new color scheme hurts my eyes!

I always have this little inner drama as Siren Fest approaches. Lots of cool bands and all free vs. my disdain for huge crowds etc. Then I go and always have a good time and see at least one band that I wouldn't have listened to otherwise. The event seems to be widely criticized on the web and that confuses me. They are generally the same complaints: Poor sound (somewhat valid), lack of talent (why go, then?), too many 'hipsters' and poseurs (wish we could all be cool, but sorry), too many kids (????). Anyway, I had a great day, saw some great bands, drank some beers, saw some incredible looking women (IT'S AT THE BEACH YAAAAAY). The New York Dolls at Coney Island!!! Can't be beat!

I like the new color scheme, btw. And is that guy's name pronounced Bubble, Booble, or BooBlay?

We attended Siren Fest. Great bands, but I think they could have used some better sound reinforcement. Maybe that's just me. Our stuff is more organic, and for us the difference between life and death onstage (well, maybe not quite life and death, but at least a good show) is a sound person who knows what the fuck all those little sliders and knobs are for. Fiskum--Oddly the sound was better this year than in the last few.

So I learned that it's pronounced BooBlay. Now, as someone who grew up with a last name that rhymes with everything nasty, I feel I'm allowed to comment on unfortunate names. Michael has got one. Cool though that he has some sort of talent and fame (I've never heard him) so he should still be able to score. I have to depend on my charm and wit, which seems to be as faded as a sign on an abandoned daiquiri cabana in late September. Perhaps I should have continued the singing lessons.

Greg--That could be. It was the first year I attended. But having said that, it was a great show. Plus, I love the smell of a great audience!
