Sha Na Na = Woodstock's most underrated performance... and a great TV show as well.

I can't go with "underrated" here, but I'll vouch for "most surprising," or "the act you never hear about until you see the movie."

I had a solo album by the one African-American member of Sha Na Na, Denny Greene. Its main strength was that it only cost 50 cents.

And tomorrow is Bowzer's birthday!

"...Bauman started attending The Juilliard School at age 12, and is a graduate magna cum laude of Columbia University..."

Wow. I'm speechless.

Did any of the Friday acts make it into the movie? I've heard the outtakes album, and I remember seeing footage of Canned Heat playing. Other than that though...

I saw the DVD last year - and my memory is faulty (but you know what they say - if you remember the Woodstock DVD, you didn't really see it) - but I believe Richie Havens, Ravi Shankar, Joan Baez, Country Joe, and Arlo all played on Friday, and are all in the film. And Canned Heat played on Saturday, according to Wikipedia. (Okay, yes I cheated. So I guess you really were at Woodstock, dude!)

I always hated Sha-Na-Na. Rosh Hashanah, on the other hand, rocks.

I was reading about Bowzer recently (was it via IHOP? can't recall), in connection with this Truth in Music bill http://www.vocalgroup.org/truth.htm aimed at protecting artists from "identity theft" by tribute or cover bands. I'm a little confused by his affiliation, because wasn't Sha Na Na in essence ripping off 50's bands? I guess they never tried to pass themselves off as the Drifters, which is what the identity-stealing bands are doing.
