Great great performances by the three that I saw, Paula & New Dealbreakers, Boy With a Fish, and Actual Facts. I haven't had so much fun at a show in years... truly a blast. For several hours I was the grinningest, happiest guy in New York.

Ya know... back in MY day, we used to pay 8 bucks for a concert ticket and see 3 great bands play their hearts out. These days when it costs you 60 bucks to sit in nosebleed seats and watch ants play guitar, it's nice... oops... sorry, nostalgia trip there. It was really cool last night.

Paula- Your voice was in fine form last night. (and some superficial girl talk, but) that gray dress looked smashing! -- I want to steal it. Which guitarist played with you last night, was that Andy Green or Ross Bonadonna or someone else? He adds so much texture to each song, really takes it to another level for me. And I was surprised I really enjoyed the Overlords, some good tunes and the lead singer has a charisma.

Simply, it was probably the best show I've ever seen you play, and I've seen a lot of good ones. The sound was superb, your voice sounded great, and the band was incomparable. Ross has really honed his parts now to a laser-guided precision, and the sound of your two guitars really meshed. Andy is always perfection, but the difference here is Pope Tom the first. He really is a 'songwriter's drummer' in the classic sense -- he totally gets your songs but then adds a real power-pop wallop that hasn't been there in a while. Truly top-notch show.

"Despite weird sound illusions onstage that made both Andy and me think that we were woefully out of tune" what the heck is with that? I notice this a lot more since I switched to bass. It seems to happen more in some rooms than others.

Those "weird sound illusions" are the result of standing waves in enclosed spaces, which are tuned by the dimensions of the space to notes which may be close to notes that are being played, in rooms of inhabitable size these are tones in the bass range...

Hey, thanks Sharon and Jestap--that is really nice to hear.

Have to agree with the Jestaplero... The songs are always good, but hearing them played with the whole band, drums etc., adds an entirely different, and very large dimension. It was impressive.
