Summer's over; another layer goes on. Unless you forget to bring it, in which case, sucks to be you! Sigh. Is it mojito time yet?

Someone should write a song about this poignant moment in the cycle of seasons...oh, wait, oh! yeah.

iwombat - 2007-10-12 11:31:47
I have other things to do, really I do, ok , I'm gonna go do them... now.

Paula - 2007-10-12 11:39:49

The first corporate sponsored storms should be named after oil companies and auto manufacturers.

Just yesturday I was in the bookstore and came across the Peratta section, and I was wondering when that new one was coming out. I read about it about a year ago, when the two directors of "Little Miss Sunshine" was slated to make the movie version of it. I like his books too, although Joe College lacked a little bit.

I just read about that plasteel stuff myself a day or two ago -- I consider it another essential step towards my own personal powered exoskeleton. What would I need such a thing? If you have to ask, you just don't understand...

Paula - 2007-10-12 15:09:46
Grigorss: Obviously, a powered exoskeleton is designed to assist and protect the wearer. Who wouldn't understand your need for that?

Eric: Come to think of it, I never read Joe College! I thought I was a Perotta completist but I got some catching up to do.

He does hold the distinction of being the author whose books I've read in closest proximity to their actual release dates. I can't even say that about my mega-faves Lorrie Moore and Julian Barnes, cuz they had books that predated my interest, but I was with TP from the git-go, as soon as I read a review for Bad Haircut and asked for it for Xmas that year.

Paula: How in the hell did you find yourself reading about spiral galaxies. Our physics softball team I named the "retarded potentials", which i think makes a fine band name as well. Hell, physics/math is chock full of good names. I always thought bird names where great sources of either cat names or perhaps fluffy pop bands. "Tufted titmouse"

Mr Lojban - 2007-10-12 15:37:41
My brother studied physics briefly. When he described the Higgs boson to me, I thought Hey, I should write a song about that. That was years ago. Now I'm thinkin' "The Boson Higgs" would be a pretty good band name.

Loj-B: You know everyone would misspell it as "Boston" though.

Chris: I don't even remember how I wound up on that spiral galaxies entry--such is the magic of wiki. I probably started out looking up Memphis Slim.

I feel a game coming on--get from [random entry X] to [random entry Y] in as few wiki-jumps as possible.

Greg Sagan - 2007-10-12 16:40:31
Do you really think Globular Clusters would work as a band name? A breakfast cereal maybe...

Two of these entries made me laugh out loud and it made me wonder... I know you perform sometimes the rock music, but have you ever done stand-up?

grigorss - 2007-10-12 23:40:46
Obviously, a powered exoskeleton is designed to assist and protect the wearer.

Yeah, I guess you could use one for those purposes -- I was thinking more along the lines of comfort and style . . .
-------------------------------
Paula - 2007-10-13 13:56:28
have you ever done stand-up?

Wouldn't that require a whole new wardrobe? No, I'm intrigued and sort of flattered by the question, but comedy seems like a really un-fun undertaking. Have you done it?
