True about Fogelberg - but his death does provide us with an interesting test case. Specifically, if there's a divine power of good exerting its force over the universe, we will not be subjected to twice the number of plays of "Same Old Lang Syne" this year because of his death. If, however, we hear that hideous piece of saccharine overdose more than we usually must suffer through at this time of year, we will know that (as another singer once put it) "Satan's laughing with delight."

Ya know... Dan Fogelberg was not my cup of tea, but he made enough people happy... and I'm always really envious of people with beautiful voices and he was definitely blessed with one. (and nice hair) He did a song during the whole No Nukes thing, called Face The Fire, which was a truly great rock and roll song. He always struck me as a cool guy. Also, being 46 is not so far from 54 and 54 strikes me as not so old at all... stats showing more and more people, especially men, are getting prostate and colon cancer at younger ages. It's really rather sobering. R.I.P. Dan... It is sad any way you look at it.

His 1977 lp Nether Lands is pretty good and struck an emotional chord with me at the time that still resonates. Thanks, Dan!
