The Obama speech just might have swung me back to a vote for a Democrat. I was waiting to see what's going on with my Green friends, but I've been waiting for Obama to show me something and he did... it might just be common sense.

I have nothing to confess... I did hear a rumor, however, that Jim McGreevey's original "I am a gay American" speech was a fraud--that he was given the choice to do that or be prosecuted for something or another. He was definitely at least a little crooked, but man... that story is hit National Enquirer levels. And I still have nothing to confess.

Paula, you may be the only other person likely to enjoy the "Fishing With John" episode (as in Lurie?, of the Lounge Lizards) featuring Willem Defoe that involves ice-fishing. (It IS the best episode, but that ain't necessarily saying much....) By the way, I've been trying to send that address with no success (rcn.com gets delivery failure, clicking your name here gets DiaryLand error page, putting the address under my name here does likewise). So, anyway, it's b followed by the first 5 letters of my last name @hotmail.com.

Lyrics for Ashley to capitalize on: "I fucked the guv'nor/And the Lieutenant guv'nor/And the guv'nor's driver..." Oh, and somebody in the media (Colbert, if she dared come on?) really needed to ask Geraldine if she figures Patterson is in the position he's in (governor) because he's blind... and whether she thought that Patterson's lack of vision caused the former guv'nor to bang that girl.... And, for that matter, whether she (Gerry) has ever heard of Mike Huckabee... and whether she believes that Obama would be likelier to be in the position he's in if he were "all" black. We really are pretty backwards about this stuff compared to, say, New Zealand, whose famous national rugby team is called the All Blacks [and features a lot of Maori players] without it being a thing.

I will, however, leave it up to Ashley as to whether to plug that into the tune of "I Shot the Sherrif" or into Big Black's "Bad Penny".

Well, Cryptic Bob you'll be happy (or perhaps merely pleased? or maybe irked??) to know that I too really enjoy the ice-fishing episode of Fishing With John that features Willem Defoe -- the episode that kicked off the series, when he goes shark-fishing with Jim Jarmusch is also pretty funny -- but the Defoe installment is by far the most amusing, I think.
And just to add, the whole "Sleeveface" bit is really delightful, and makes me wish that I had a tiny, shrunken head so I could do the same with my CD collection.

I would have thought "Hansson" means "son of Hans" - a/k/a "John." Maybe "Hans" being a very common name, the idea is similar to referring to "John Doe" (not the ex-X guy) - "John" as generic name... I just like writing the phrase "ex-X"...

grigorss, I am merely pleased. ("Happy" was when I finally got to that episode after watching the rest of a stack of others from the library... cuz I no longer felt that I had completely wasted hrs of my life, since that episode was such a fitting - and yes, as such, amusing - finale.)

the idea is similar to referring to "John Doe"

I believe that is the gist.
