I'm glad that Young At Heart was good. There was so much press about it and some of it was rather condescending. That piqued my ire just a bit, but put me on my guard also. I'm glad the filmmakers didn't play it that way!

Actually, they kinda did play it that way, at least at the beginning of the film. Then they wisely started focussing on the individual members after that, and that's when the film picked up for me.

My first reaction to the trailers was "ain't that queer?" Then I figured that all these old folks are as close in age to the Rolling Stones as I am so why not? I think, like you, I'm more interested in the potential of music and art in general to bind people in a truly productive way, and less in the oddity. Most of my heroes qualified for AARP membership years ago anyway.

I intend on seeing Young @ Heart (among other things) this weekend when I visit for a two day break. It's the rare time where I shell out 12 dollars for a documentary, and I'll do it again with Shine a Light. And as for Walk Hard, I used to duck into both the Beatles scene, and the Bob Dylan scene when it wasn't busy at work. Luckily for me, they are within a minute of one another (and that minute is the "Midget Man" song which is equally hilarious.) I was really struck by the intelligence of all the songwriting.

It had to be better than WILD at Heart. Oh, and when did broBob start looking like Iggy?
