Have to applaud the California Supreme Court on this one... I didn't think they would have the guts to do the right thing. It's astonishing that anybody could believe that this isn't in the true spirit of the Constitution. It's more astonishing that there are actually active opponents of gay marriage... that people have picked this up as their pet cause. This is a proud day for California--um... no pun intended on the pride thing.

... and Green Ghost is the most exciting!
Yes -- a proud day to be a Californian (and let me assure you, such days are rare...); personally think the Gov't should get out of the marriage business entirely -- it's an institution created and largely controlled by various religions; no need for the Gov't. to be involved at all. Civil Unions, on the other hand, are something the Gov't should regulate -- and should be available to all. And really, I mean all -- if you want a civil union with your favorite stuffed animal, I wouldn't think of interfering; and neither should the Gov.t!

I think Conchita would agree.

Paula, I usually agree with you on just about everything. The crack about traveling north of 10th street? I was willing to let that go. But, Scrabble? The most boring game in the world? Really?

OK, first let me express my relief that you didn't challenge my taste in sedimentary rock.

I was curious how you might react to the "10th St." crack, b/c you're one of my few non-Brooklyn pals.

Scrabble is clearly a classic, wonderful game, but it goes on way too long for my extremely short attention span. It's not Scrabble, its me!

Its funny that with my self-professed facility for words that I absolutely suck at Scrabble. I've never had a facility for games though. As soon as the boards come out I develop ADD or something. I've always envied the folks that can sit in the park and play chess so intensely. One of my ex-co workers used to go to Bryant Park every sunny day and beat the pants off the old men there. It had to be a zen thing for her because she came back so relaxed and refreshed. In the same situation I would have been knocked out physically and intellectually. Somehow just sitting looking at the trees is enough for me. Games? Oy... dangerous for me. Scrabble? I get whipped by children.
