Don't they check these things against some database of older articles?
You mean the same NYT that employs Billy Kristol? Answer: Martinis!

Also, more Nixon!

It may be Pakistan's first attempt at a gore movie, but nearby Bollywood has been churning 'em out for years -- not having actually seen an example thereof, it's unclear to me how many musical numbers might be found in one of 'em.
I think the monkey robot article is more properly a monkey controlling a robot story -- this is a monkey robot!

Ewan MacColl wrote a lot of great tunes. Somewhere in my stack of stuff I've got him doing a reading of Yeats' Stolen Child that's chilling... also the father of the late Kirstie MacColl. Quite a family.

look on the bright side. at least you don't have to read the same times article about your *hometown* every year. "jersey city -- it's up and coming! it's the new hip spot! who would have thunk it from such a piece of shit place?"

"Jersey City"? Never heard of it. Maybe one of these Times articles can shed some light.

"Jersey City"? What, they make shirts there? Anyway, about the repetitive content thing: I continue to be befuddled and amazed at the ongoing existence of magazines like Men's Health and th like...since as far as I can tell, they have only two-three articles: "Flatten Those Abs!" "Increase Your Stamina!" and shit, I dunno, some profile of a guy in his fifties who still looks studly and drives a cool car. I'm thinking that if they have to run those articles all the time, obviously their readers have anything-but-flat abs, and as for "stamina"? let's say that early Husker Du is Mike Oldfield. Realistically, they should print articles like "how to pass gas without being identified" and "what do you mean bacon triple-cheeseburgers aren't good for you? Have another goddamned beer!" and "Can you recite all of Bret Favre's key career statistics in a single belch? Our experts show you how!"

Yeah, the women's fitness magazines are just as predictable: flat abs, lose ten pounds fast, and "do you suffer from poor body image?" Well....
