wow. my aunt and uncle lived in Ridgewood for years and it always looked like the most happenin' places there were the Women's Club and the Duck Pond! I'll be at my parents in NJ on 7/12...may have to check out that show and this suburban club concept.

Ridgewood... verdant suburb... Orange Tiger Lilies and the scent of sweet honeysuckle auger the start of deep summer... On the 4th of July our family would stand on the same corner every year waiting for the parade... Some tipsy guy in the crowd would shake a belt of cow bells at each passing spectacle... Fire engines, marching bands and veterans, the mayor and his wife would wave from a convertible... People always stood when the flag passed... One strange year a group appeared at the end of the parade, Vietnam Veterans Against the War... If not for their black T-shirts and jeans, you could imagine they were Civil War Veterans, long hair and beards... There were boos... Hard to remember in our time, but dissent seemed shocking then... My parents clapped through the din... And then it was time for ice cream cones And a long rest before coming back for Fireworks... As American as Walt Whitman, apple pie, and a red, white, and blue bomb pop...

This is feeding my perhaps delusional feeling that the 'burbs are becoming cool. But I wish it looked a tad grungier!

that Lemmy movie looks like it could be a movie I'd actually go see in the theater -- I had no idea it was being made!
