The Osmonds' "The Plan" and "Crazy Horses" have just been reissued on a two-fer CD, making 2008 a wonderful year indeed! My under-the-radar favorite is the Maybe It's Reno album, which is an Unrest reunion that's managed to stay top-secret for the most part.

Well two of the films you mention on your "faves so far" will definitely be on my "'08 film-year in review" list (guessing them won't be hard) -- a number of the others are likely to make the cut -- but despite my great admiration for Michel Gondry's oeuvre overall -- and my somewhat inexplicable attraction to Amy Poehler I don't think Be Kind, Rewind or Baby Mama will make it... -- unless, ya' know, all the movie theaters in the U.S. suddenly explode...
simultaneously...
right now...

But, HEY!! It takes all kinds...

In Bruges will most certainly be on my Best of list. I've seen it three times now and it never fails to be such a well written, directed, and acted movie.

I have not heard enough current music nor seen enough current films to have lists! I did get the first day Netflix of the Joe Strummer doc though... will let you know.

"MacStrummer" Anxiously awaiting your review... I recommend Redemption Song, the Ballad of Joe Strummer by Chris Salewicz (whom Strummer meanly referred to as "Chris Sandwich", then again, he called his Spanish girlfriend Paloma of the Slits "Palmolive"). It's chockablock with useless yet juicy fanfacts and great pictures of him as a down-and-out gravedigger in (not-for-fashion-effect) ripped pants, and one of him passed out from drink in his school uniform (ohhh.... that's my co-dependent swoon)

Sharon--I watched The Future Is Unwritten twice last night. It's really cool and sweet and doesn't exactly whitewash things. It did definitely validate my feelings for Joe Strummer though. He was a special guy... a seeker. I will probably review it on my own blog but the love of music and of an artist etc. is involved and complex and very personal so it will probably be a long one.
