i totally agree. with indie rockers singing about torn foam plastic couches, or whatever the hell they're on about these days, ccm is looking pretty good. christian contemporary musicians have the one thing that's missing in so many current indie rock albums: motivation. i have been listening to brooke fraser's *albertine* a lot, and i mean A LOT. ccm can be corny, but the performers never sound bored, and they always know exactly what they're singing for. i think a paula carino christian contemporary record would be AWESOME.

This jibes with the CD you got the Princes of Macedonia. Also, BSG ,season 2, Flight of the Phoenix. The ending will have you bawlin'.

Really, did it have Jesus-y lyrics?

To me there is a world of difference between artists who believe in and/or sing about God (Sufjan Stevens, Low, Starflyer59, Sam Phillips, Victoria Williams, the entire gospel canon etc.) and the CCM industry which is a bit prepackaged and icky. I want to stay on the right side of the line.

Oh, I meant to address this part:

performers never sound bored, and they always know exactly what they're singing for.

Yes--that I agree with. It is pretty refreshing to read interviews with some CCM artists, too. You don't often find humility in the arts, but those kids all seem pretty mellow, ego-wise.

aw, you could *never* be pre-packaged and icky. even if you fell into the hands of the industry. p.s., the photo of you with the guitar is beautiful! god approves, i just know it.
