Russell Brand is in big trouble in the UK for making obscene phone calls on-air to a famous actor, telling him that he had sex with the actor's granddaughter. He's resigned from his BBC show and is not very well respected over there for being a junkie and sex-addict to boot.

Freaks & Geeks alumni made good!!!!

Well fortunately Brand can come on over here to the States, where he can receive the respect that junkie/sex addicts deserve.

Ha! True.

Some of my good friends are junkies!!! I could use one or two sex addicts amongst them though.

"And the third is Il y a longtemps que je t'aime (in theaters this week)..."

I don't know what your source is, but that's the worst French-English translation job I've seen in quite some time.

Bina - 2008-10-31 03:09:30
That's true: il y a longtemps actually means "It's been a while since"... If they can't even get the title right, I don't hold out much hope for the entire movie (though I still want to watch it). As for sex addicts and junkies, they don't get respect, but they sure as hell make a lot of money re: Amy Winehouse and David Duchovny.

Superficial appearance and proclivities somewhat aside, I think Brand would never do as Bolan... though it might (or might not) be amusingly ridiculous. I could actually more easily see him as a member of notorious-asshole-inclusive the Damned, opening for Bolen.

Whoops, I mean Bidan.

2fs was kidding. I wasn't translating the title, I was saying "the movie is in theaters this week."

It's just not my day.

At least she's responsive, Bina. I can't seem to get a rise out of our friend Paula these days... I call her Xenophobia, blogster princess... I suggest her casting of Russel Brand as Marc Bolan would be ridiculous... but nothing seems to get her. I think she should run for prez.

If Paula hasn't finished casting this Marc Bolan bio-pic, I nominate Simon Pegg for the role of John Peel. And maybe Russell Brand should take some career advice from Steve Coogan. Or maybe he already did.

Bina - 2008-10-31 14:16:55
Steve Coogan gave him a bollocking, but David Walliams stuck up for him - he's the only junkie in the village, after all!

Hee, Bob - I'ds vote for Xenophobia Warrior Princess over Elmer Fudd and Bible Spice. But who'd be her running mate? Cap'n Neil?

MacGregor - 2008-10-31 14:32:56
I thought it meant "the lonely canoe that I came to love." My French is pretty bad though.

If Paula hasn't finished casting this Marc Bolan bio-pic...

Jude Law as Steve Peregrin Took, and Billy Bob Thornton as Tony Visconti.

MacGregor - 2008-10-31 16:16:12
And Geraldine Ferraro as David Bowie?
-------------------------------
jonder - 2008-10-31 20:09:50
...plus Thandie Newton as Gloria Jones, and a cameo from Marc Almond as himself! This is fun.

Paula - 2008-10-31 20:28:03
The son of Marc and Gloria is also a singer, did you know that?

Gerry, 'cept maybe for her bitterness, is a great idea as Bowie. As for the blogster princess, I would cast Chris as her running mate, Bina. He doesn't look like Sarah Palin, but, he did seem to be the only other guy at New College that my Ringling girlfriend was interested in, and, more importantly, he would bring a scientific bent to an administration, being a mathematical lizard and all.
