Deleted Waveform Gatherings used to be called the Dipsomaniacs, but had to change their name because of these guys. Anyway, when you talked about " listning to Norwegian power-pop" in your FB update, I guessed the exact band. Alt for Norge!

Re this B�k guy: I envy people who don't need sleep (or so it would seem). As far as I can tell, he must have got by on only three-four hours nightly during the week (let's say: 8-4 work, 4-8 tutoring, 8-11 dissertating, 11-4/5 researching & writing). And that's not allowing for eating, commuting, etc. As for his book: I don't think I could read it. I have this thing where, say I'm looking at the "Smiths" in the phonebook: after a little while, the repetition of the visual form made by the letters "Smith" starts losing meaning. If I ever did try to read all the Smiths, I think by the end I'd have to sort of stop and recalibrate to see "Smith" as a word again. Even reading those short excerpts, the featured vowel started turning into a visual abstraction...

I was wondering what became of the Dipsomaniacs. I had listened to them quite a bit, and then went to see them... and it turned out to be the Jersey Dipsomaniacs. They were fun, but it was a bit of a disappointment.
