Perhaps the British pronounce it "Biz-zet" - they have a tendency to english foreign words, on the grounds, I suppose, that once the words or names are part of the English vocabulary for an English speaker, they're no longer foreign. Perhaps this is why they have GERRidges, while we Americans defer to the French origins of the word in pronouncing it guh-ROJ.

Coincidentally, I watched Murder on the Orient Express tonight, directed by Sidney Lumet (pronounced Lou-met) and co-starring Jaqueline Bisset (Biss-ett).

I watched Horror Express on Christmas Day, with Telly Savalas (pronounced Sa Vah lis, though I'm told in proper Greek would be Sah vah lis). It also starred Peter Cushing and David Carradine!!!

I love Horror Express! It makes no sense whatsoever -- which just makes it that much creepier! Also, I believe that film scored a first with its use of zombie cossacks...

Sung to the tune of "Jungle Boogie": "Zombie cossacks! [trumpet thing] Zombie cossacks!"
