The one Luna album where I think they nailed it is Penthouse, which still sounds to me like a rumination on a certain sleepy-slacker-NYC that was fading away in 1995. I listen to it a lot when walking around the city on rainy days...

I saw luna with the flaming lips. did you see the doc about them? I watched it and the one about the Pixies the same night. Pretty interesting, these band things.

Luna and Galaxie 500 are two bands that went completely under my radar for the past umpteen years. And continue to for that matter. It's not from lack of hearing or reading about them. There were several points that I meant to check them both out and forgot... Perhaps it's that I never heard them, and hence couldn't judge, but I never once experienced anybody at all raving about them... not that this is what it takes. It's just a weird phenomenon... there just never seemed that sense of urgency. So if I were to check either band out, where might I start? Any suggestions?

I think Romantica is very good, and Dana, who is probably the most enthusiastic Luna fan I know, endorses Penthouse above. For Galaxie 500: I'd say Today, and then Damon & Naomi's More Sad Hits
