Got the new Frank Black record. Listened to it twice through and enjoyed it a bunch.

It's got the usual FB elements: the almost-classic-rock basics with the weird chords thrown in at the end of measures, and that soothing, affectless voice.

At this point in his career, FB isn't doing anything groundbreaking, but he has earned the right not to--he can continue putting out mildly great records like this for the rest of his life and I'll keep buyin' em.

He and Robyn H. are in the same boat: ridiculously prolific, they just can't help putting out album after album, and it sounds like they aren't reaching for the stars in production or songwriting, just quietly following their muses and having fun. I support that.
