Saw School of Rock today...it is a perfect movie. I was just talking about rock movies in a recent entry...perhaps I should define my terms and establish some rules here.

A rock movie is any film that depicts the process of...rockin'. Rock movies tend to be cornball, because it's very, very hard to depict the world o' music accurately w/o resorting to cliches. But there are good bad rock movies (Satisfaction) and bad bad rock movies (Almost Famous). And then there's the rare good rock movie (Light of Day and 24 Hour Party People) that actually stays fairly true to life or doesn't take itself too seriously.

I'd say School of Rock is somewhere between a good bad and a good. It is riddled with cliches, but they are rendered knowingly and with real wit.
