An observation of a minute behavior that arouses the mildest, fleeting irritation, so mild that a reasonable person lets it go. But since it happens fairly frequently, someone has to comment on it.

Standing on a subway platform, doing the old crane-&-peer in the direction of the anticipated train (itself a useless gesture--the train will come eventually, and you won't mistake it for anything else), do you ever have people in your line of vision who look back at you? As if they didn't know what you were looking for, or as if they couldn't respect the private space between a person's eyes and an oncoming train?

It's annoying. That and when a person leans against the subway pole with his or her entire body.

This could be the beginning of peace in the Middle East.
