Watched the documentary Stevie last night: ouch. An amazing and agonizing film, made all the more tragic by knowing that this person had many people trying to help him. Maybe not at first, but eventually.

The cast of characters surrounding Stevie are an alarmingly articulate bunch, from the grocer down the street, who wisely asks, "Where does your responsibility for another person end?" to his mildly retarted girlfriend, who stands by him despite having a strong feeling that he's guilty of the crimes he's been accused of.

Started reading Nick Hornby's How to Be Good, which is really enjoyable. Such brilliance shouldn't be so easy to read, but it is: he takes complex ideas about marriage and spirituality and speaks them plainly and funnily.

I scored a 7 on this bookworm test, how'd you do?
