This is a belated observation, but I've been too busy to write much.

Anyway, about 2 weeks ago, Courtney Love came traipsin' through New York wreaking all sorts of damage, and amongst those who weren't tired of her antics was the resounding chorus, "Oh, thank God, we still have some true rock stars left. We must never lose grasp of the mythos of the damaged, dangerous rock star. Oh. Oh."

My question is: didn't the "rock star" myth die out a long time ago...and didn't it die out because it was stupid and insubstantial and childish? Didn't we collectively decide that we wanted to do-it-ourselves, and that we value talent and sincerity over self-destruction, and that our heroes were people who actually do some good in the world?

A myth is just a myth...we can create new ones anytime we want. These guys did.
